Joining the IDEXX Livestock, Dairy and Poultry marketing team has given me so many great opportunities. I originally joined IDEXX as a product marketing manager supporting the Bovine line of business and helping to launch new products such as the IDEXX Milk Pregnancy Test, which is helping dairy farmers around the world to improve production efficiency. Two years later, a great opportunity arose to lead the Dairy product line, where we’ve developed new products to meet the changing needs of milk processors.
Despite working remotely from my home office in the UK (many of my colleagues are located all around the world), we are able to work as a close team. Given that we have product lines crossing four major areas (Swine, Poultry, Bovine and Dairy), there is always something new to learn—and no two days at IDEXX are ever the same. My current role as a Strategic Marketing Manager involves helping to set the strategic direction for the LPD business as well as evaluating and prioritizing new product development ideas and looking for opportunities to grow the line of business.
Since IDEXX has a global footprint, I’ve had the opportunity to travel and have been lucky enough to visit every continent (except Antarctica!) during my tenure at IDEXX. This has enabled me not only to develop a deeper insight and understanding of the needs of our customers in various regions, but also to gain appreciation for cultural differences and varying business practices throughout the world.
IDEXX has a strong set of guiding principles and is committed to enhancing the health and well-being of pets, people, and livestock. As part of our community programming, I’ve had the chance to volunteer at Send a Cow, a UK charity that provides livestock and education to families in Africa as well as volunteering for trail clearing duties in the great Portland area when I’ve visited our HQ in Maine.
This year marks my10th anniversary at IDEXX and I couldn’t be more grateful for the numerous opportunities IDEXX provides for me to grow both personally and professionally. I have a chance to work with talented people on some exciting projects that span multiple functions within the company and really make a positive business impact. And, on top of that, I get to work for a company with a great purpose - improving the lives of animals and people.
This company invests in my professional growth through access to continuous training, challenging opportunities and experienced leadership. It all started in our Information Technology department, where I spent five years working on implementation of leading edge technologies - anything from supply chain, financial, Human Resources, R&D and data management systems to our websites and Internet-of-Things solutions. I have gained tremendous technical, data and leadership skills through this experience. IDEXX has also provided me with an opportunity to move to our Marketing department where I’ve been working for five years now. I get to help marketers build more effective marketing campaigns that align our strategic marketing goals with an exceptional customer experience.
IDEXX also invests in my personal growth and well-being through wellness resources and an inspiring culture. People that I meet here are creative, innovative, inspiring and focused on the collective growth. Over time, many of them became my personal friends. I wholeheartedly think of IDEXX as my other home. The benefits are great and there is a special attention to work-life balance that allows me to enjoy life with my family in our beautiful state of Maine.
