I’ve been a veterinary radiologist for over 25 years and working in veterinary hospitals for 35 years. Through a variety of twists and turns of my life path, the door to IDEXX Telemedicine opened. IDEXX truly is unique. The people culture is genuine and consistent. Our team, including sales, support, veterinary specialists and management, all care for our patients and clients and each other. Early last year, as our case load increased, one of our team leads asked us as a team to pay close attention to prioritization—and urgency of cases. This expanded to a broader conversation about creating a patient-centric work flow and resulted in a re-organization of our submission selections and case management. I am proud to work with a group that is so agile and supportive of each other.
Our team of radiologists are actively collaborating daily, even though we are spread across the globe – from New Zealand to Finland. We share our challenging cases, providing follow-up when possible. A quick case question might instigate a full-blown academic geek out. We push the envelope on the direction of our profession each day.
IDEXX is an exciting place to be in the world of anatomic pathology! We are on the edge of advancing technology, reading 100% of our cases virtually. An IDEXX anatomic pathologist can now live anywhere in the U.S. and read cases from a home office. This opens up endless opportunities for a healthy work-life balance and affords the ability to work in a location that suits our lifestyle. Advanced technology also allows us to share cases live with any other pathologist in the world, both inside and outside of IDEXX, with a click of a button. This fosters collaboration and ultimately produces better results for our patients.
IDEXX continually works hard to keep me engaged and helps me develop the skills that I need to grow as a leader. As the leader of the anatomic pathology organization, I take a similar approach to my team. I do everything possible to ensure that our employees enjoy work, feel successful, and see a clear, long-term career path.
IDEXX has a strong global presence. On any given day I could be reading cases from the U.S., Korea, and England while consulting with another IDEXX pathologist in Japan or Australia. Similarly, IDEXX offers opportunities to lead continuing education lectures abroad. Pathologists on our team have lectured in Korea, Singapore, and beyond. Within IDEXX there is a healthy exchange of best practices. Everyone has a voice, independent of title, and their ideas are valued and supported.
Great ideas are born by working together in a safe and friendly environment; IDEXX is a perfect example of that!
Ask any of our veterinary professionals what their goal is and you will likely hear, “advancing the state of veterinary medicine.” With a strong focus on peer-to-peer education and developing relationships with key opinion leaders in the industry, our veterinary team works closely with our lines of business to ensure world-class products and services for veterinarians and their practices.
