In a word, my role at IDEXX is that of a multidisciplinary scientist. On any given day I am responsible to work in and produce results in 3-4 departments and regularly perform maintenance and QCs on various laboratory instruments. The nature of my work requires me to constantly interact with my colleagues- pathologists, scientists, couriers, etc., and also communicate with the veterinary staff, as required. My team consists of people from varied backgrounds and experiences, which makes it easier to gain a broader understanding of procedures and techniques. Also, they are pretty awesome when it comes to helping one another wherever possible.
