IDEXX US Benefits

The health and well-being of pets, people, and livestock is what we’re all about at IDEXX. We want our employees to focus on their own health as well, which is why we provide programs and incentives to help. Our benefits plans have many details and this Benefits Snapshot is intended to provide a brief overview.

401(k) Retirement and Incentive Saving Plan

If you are age 18 or older, you will be automatically enrolled in the IDEXX 401(k) plan. After 6 months, IDEXX matches your contribution dollar for dollar (100%) on the first 5% of your pay.

Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)

IDEXX employees can elect to defer up to 5% (to a maximum of $6,250 per quarter) of their salaries to an ESPP account during a three-month period of time. When stock purchases are made,

the employee has the opportunity to purchase the stock at 85% of the IDEXX closing price on the last trading day of the three-month period - an immediate 15% gain!

Flexible Spending Accounts (Medical, Dependent Care and Transportation)

Your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and your Qualified Transportation Account allow you to save money for certain medical, dependent care and transportation costs on a pre-tax basis. Since the money is taken from your paycheck before taxes are taken out, this can often result in significant savings.

Paid Time Off

IDEXX believes that employees should have opportunities to enjoy time away from work to help balance their lives. Our flexible PTO policy allows you to use your accrued paid time off for vacation, family illness, doctor appointments, school, or personal reasons at your discretion. All regular

full-time employees or part-time employees with regularly scheduled hours of 60 or more biweekly are eligible to receive PTO.

Paid Holidays

All regular full- or part-time employees working regularly scheduled hours of 60 or more biweekly receive 10 paid holidays annually. All employees will receive 7 designated holidays and 3 floating holidays. Part-time employees who are eligible for benefits may receive holiday pay on a prorated basis if the holiday falls on a regularly scheduled workday.

Pet Insurance

Health insurance for your cat, dog, bird or exotic animal can be purchased by employees at a cost below market rates. Four different plans are available for every pet and every budget.

Eligibility and Enrollment cont.

For health, dental, vision, supplemental life insurance, and flexible spending account plans, there are three enrollment opportunities:

New Employee

IDEXX has Day One Benefits! Your coverage is effective on your first day of employment. As a new employee, you will sign up through Workday for benefits you are eligible for during the first 14 days of your employment. You will learn about Workday from your supervisor.

Open Enrollment Period

IDEXX’s annual Open Enrollment Period is typically your only opportunity during the year to elect new benefits or make changes to your selections. You will receive many reminders via email, the Intradexx, webinars, and other communication channels leading up to and during this important event. All Open Enrollment information can be found on Ask HR (benefits resources, recorded webinars, etc.).

Qualified Life Event

If you experience a qualified life event during a benefit year, you can make related changes to certain benefits. Typically, changes must be made within 31 days of the event. Qualified life events include:

  • Marriage, divorce, or change in domestic partner relationship
  • Birth or adoption of a child
  • Change in employment status that makes you eligible for benefits (e.g., part- to full-time)
  • Death of a spouse or a dependent child
  • Your spouse gains or loses coverage
Plan Cost

IDEXX medical and dental plans are self-funded rather than fully insured, which means IDEXX, not the insurance company, pays your claims. Every healthcare dollar spent affects both the Company’s bottom line and yours! The healthier and more informed we are, the more we can all save, and the more IDEXX can pass some of these savings on to you in the form of incentives and enhanced benefits.

Costs for All Medical Plans:

Your contribution to the IDEXX medical plan is made through payroll deduction on a pretax basis. The following chart shows how much your IDEXX health coverage costs depending on the plan you choose.

Dental Plan

IDEXX offers Northeast Delta Dental insurance coverage to eligible employees and their dependents. You can go to any dentist or orthodontist, but using a network provider will save you money.

A network provider will also take care of your claims, and Delta Dental will pay the provider directly. Find a list of in-network dentists and orthodontists by visiting nedelta.com and selecting “National Dentist Directory.”

With Your Delta Dental Plan:

  • Dental work covered up to $2,000 per participant per plan year
  • $50 annual deductible for individual, $150 for family
  • Save money by choosing in-network providers who have negotiated discounts with Delta Dental
Hinge Health

Hinge Health has expanded its platform to offer a digital Musculoskeletal (MSK) Clinic to participants 18+ who are enrolled in an IDEXX medical plan who want to address acute, chronic, post-surgical, or even preventative care for back, neck, shoulder, knee, hip pain, and more. The coach-led digital program uses education, exercise therapy, and behavioral health support as it delivers care remotely at the convenience of the member. The MSK Clinic has added preventive and acute pain programs, a surgery program, and an expert medical opinion as supplemental offerings available to participants 18+ and enrolled in an IDEXX medical plan. There is no coinsurance or co-pay for these programs.

Prescriptions

All medical plans except the Aetna Health Investment Plan (HIP), cover prescriptions in the same manner. The HIP generally requires that you meet your deductible before the plan pays for prescriptions.

Note: If a brand name drug is dispensed and a generic equivalent is
available, you must pay the difference between the cost of the brand name drug and the generic equivalent, plus the brand drug copayment.

Preferred and non-preferred are designations on Aetna’s list of covered drugs (Formulary) which are equivalent in effectiveness, but the preferred drug is less expensive.

Aetna Maintenance Choice Program

If you are taking maintenance medications, there are two ways to receive a 90-day supply and save a copay. Aetna Rx Home Delivery can deliver your 90-day supply to your home or you can pick it up at a CVS Pharmacy Store (including any CVS pharmacy inside Target stores) near you. If you do not want to participate in this convenient cost-saving program, you must contact Aetna to be able to fill your maintenance medication at a local pharmacy every 30 days.

To opt out of this program or for more information, call the number on the back of your card.

Specialty Drugs

Specialty drugs are high-cost prescription medications used to treat complex chronic illnesses such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, etc. They often require special handling during shipping such as refrigeration, and often are administered as injectable or infusions.

IDEXX uses the Five Tier Aetna Standard Formulary Plan. There are two additional tiers for Specialty drugs:

  • 4th Tier: Preferred - $50 co-payment
  • 5th Tier: Non-Preferred - $100 co-payment
Carrum Health

IDEXX has partnered with Carrum Health to assist anyone enrolled in an IDEXX medical plan in accessing the highest quality surgical care for over 100 surgical procedures and cancer care for breast, thyroid, and CAR-T cell therapy, as well as cancer care guidance support. Carrum Health provides dedicated care specialists to guide members through the entire process. Members not in the Health Investment Plan will have their deductible and coinsurance cost share waived when using this service. Members in the Health Investment Plan are required to meet their deductible, but further cost share will be waived.

Vision Plan

The VSP Vision plan offers more vision-related benefits than those covered under your health plan. With the VSP plan:

  • Frames and lenses or contact lenses are covered.
  • Well vision exams only cost you a $10 co-pay.
  • No ID cards required – just tell your provider you are a VSP member when you schedule your appointment.
  • Visit any provider you choose. A non-VSP – or open access – provider may require you to pay the bill in full and then request reimbursement from VSP.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

An HSA is a tax-favored health savings account available only to participants enrolled in the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). The purpose of an HSA is to help you pay for qualified medical expenses. Unlike Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), you can save for future expenses by rolling over your HSA balance year after year. In 2024, IDEXX will contribute $500 into an individual account and $1,000 into a family account. You can contribute additional funds to your HSA up to the annual contribution limits. The 2024 contribution limits are $4,150 for individuals and $8,300 for a family, with an additional catch-up contribution of $1,000 for participants age 55 and over.

HSA Key Features:

  • IDEXX’s HSA is administered by Health Equity.
  • “Tax-favored” means:
    • Employer contributions are tax free
    • Employee contributions are pretax
    • Distributions for qualified medical expenses are non-taxable
    • Earnings within the account are not taxed
  • Your HSA balance rolls over year after year; there is no “use it or lose it” rule
  • The funds in the HSA are yours immediately
  • HSA funds may be used for qualified medical, dental, and vision expenses
  • Your HSA funds can be viewed in your Vanguard.com account which helps with planning for your retirement and financial future

HSA Facts:

  • You must be enrolled in a HDHP to contribute to an HSA
  • The HDHP uses an aggregate family deductible, meaning that if you are enrolled in a family plan (Employee + Spouse, Employee + Child(ren), and Family), there is no individual deductible
  • Services for any family member accumulate toward the family deductible and out-of-pocket maximum
  • If you are enrolled in another plan that is not a qualified HDHP, including an FSA, you are not eligible to contribute to an HSA
  • If you are over age 65 and enrolled in Medicare, you are not eligible to contribute to an HSA
  • Preventive care services are covered at 100%; all other services, including prescriptions, are subject to the deductible

Benefit Boosters

Spend some time getting to know your benefits
  • Nearly half of US employees spend 30 minutes or less choosing their benefits each year
  • 90% keep the same benefits year after year
  • 73% only sometimes, rarely or never understand changes to their policies each year
Coverage for Adult Children

Coverage for children under the age of 26 ends on the last day of the month of their 26th birthday. Have an FSA? The IRS allows you to use your tax-free FSA account for dependent claims only if that dependent will not be older than 26 during the tax year.

Dependents:
Your dependents – spouse, domestic partner, or children under the age of 26 – can be covered under your health, dental, vision, dependent life, andsupplemental life insurance plans.

Aetna Choice
Aetna Choice can get you 100% coverage for laboratory services if you use an in-network independent lab.

What is an independent lab?
An independent laboratory is not affiliated with a hospital but will perform and report back to your medical care provider just the same. On average, a complete blood count (CBC) drawn at an independent laboratory costs about $15 while the same test drawn at a hospital laboratory costs about $150!

Looking for an independent lab in your area?
Call Aetna customer service at the number on the back of your member ID card, or visit aetnanavigator.com.
HSA

An HSA offers triple tax benefits: An HSA is the crown jewel of tax deferred accounts because contributions are not taxed, funds in an HSA grow tax-free and distributions for qualified medical expenses are not taxed. It’s the closest thing to a free lunch you’ll find anywhere.

Dental

The IDEXX plan covers 4 cleanings per year. By taking advantage of the extra cleanings, your dentist can watch for signs ofother health issues (which often presentthemselves in your mouth) and you can enjoy beautiful, clean teeth more often.
