Talent Community
Year in Review
2020 was a big year. We are grateful to continue to do work that matters. In spite of the year's challenges, we supported our veterinarians, pet owners, farmers, and all of the animals that depend on us to keep them healthy. It's thanks to our talented, passionate, and determined community of over 9,000 people embracing new ways of working together that we were able to meet and exceed our goals.

Let's take a look back on some of the many accomplishments this year.

Highlights from 2020

Opening of the Kornwestheim lab in Germany
As of May 20th, our newest, state-of-the-art laboratory opened in Kornwestheim, Germany! This beautiful new facility will be home to hundreds of IDEXXers driven by a common goal: the improvement of the health and well-being of people and animals.

We are grateful for the multi-disciplinary team that helped bring this new space to life. Check out the video to see how our newest lab plays a part in how IDEXX brings innovation to life for our employess and our customers.
Leveraging Innovation
We pivoted when the world needed us to. The Food and Drug Administration granted OPTI Medical Systems an Emergency Use Authorization for IDEXX’s OPTI SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR laboratory test kit for the detection of the 2019 novel coronavirus.

“We saw the need and knew we could do something about it," said Jay Mazelsky, President & CEO, in an interview about our expanded human COVID-19-testing capabilities.
2020 Boston CIO of the Year award for Healthcare Winner!
Our very own Ken Grady won the 2020 Boston CIO of the Year ORBIE award for Healthcare!

“This is recognition for the entire team at IDEXX and IT,” Ken tweeted upon learning about the award. “I work with smart, passionate folks aligned in purpose and focus with curiosity and a shared mission of improving the health and welfare of people and animals. It shows through every day.”

Keeping our employees safe is a priority
We take safety VERY seriously and have created programs specifically designed to help protect our employees during COVID-19.

Solving problems is part of the culture at IDEXX so when our Reagent Engineering Team was asked to help create plastic barriers to protect our essential employees during the pandemic, they created a small-scale manufacturing operation! After creating prototypes for all our R&D labs in Maine, the team continued optimizing their designs for customized safety barriers for our laboratory benches across North America.
Our responsibility to our community
Doing the work that matters is the foundation of our culture. IDEXX’s culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and entrepreneurial spirit are core to advancing environmental sustainability with our products, processes, and facilities. Our progress to date is driven by enterprise and employee-led initiatives that consider our impact on people and the environment.

Each IDEXXer has two paid GiVE Days to volunteer with non-profits in the communities where we live and work. Our peers inspire us by using their skills to mentor the next generation of STEM talent, help animals, and more.
Gold Status Award
We were awarded gold status for 2020 Best Employers: Excellence in Health & Well-Being from the Business Group on Health! We also received Special Recognition for exceptional engagement and impact in Mental Health.

We are so proud of our people and teams, who make wellbeing an area of focus in their personal and professional lives. Special thanks to our Wellbeing team for their commitment to producing world-class programs to promote our employees’ physical, mental, social, and financial wellbeing.
